it's been awhile...

Hello.  Yes, it's been awhile since my last post.  Not that anyone is reading them.  Posting does help keep me on track to finish the bathroom though so, back to work!  I recently received my first 2010 issue of This Old House magazine and you'll never guess what they have an article about...salvaged medicine cabinets!  The article is specifically about creating a message center from an old medicine cabinet.  However, it also gives great ideas and resources for finding old medicine cabinets.  So, that is an option for me.

I was also thumbing through the 2010 IKEA catalog recently.  If you don't know what IKEA is, what rock have you been hiding under?  No, really, IKEA is Swedish home furnishing store.  The closest locations are in Chicago and Cincinnati.  My husband and I, and more recently our son as well, make an annual pilgrimmage to IKEA and can never seem to spend all of what we plan to - which is a good thing!  The prices are so cheap!

Well, lo and behold, I found a great medicine cabinet in the catalog and at an amazing price.  It's very simple and even has coordinating wall shelves that I could mount on the outside edge of each cabinet for additional storage and decoration.

The cabinet itself measures 15 3/4" Wx8 1/4"Dx25 1/4"H and retails for $49.99.  The shelf dimensions are 7 1/2"Wx7 1/2"Dx25 1/4"H.  It retails for $19.99.

The cabinet and shelf retail for $69.98.  The arrangement pictures here retails for $89.97.

This gives me something to save for.  Next stop salvage sites.
